Apple 2018 Software Wishlist: Conclusion

A couple of days I just wrapped up my first series of posts on a particular, where I post daily for an entire month.

If you missed a post, here is the entire list in order of day of release, not necessarily order of preference for what I want to see.

  1. All – Provide more information on the condition of batteries for ALL devices
  2. iOS – Relocate Control Centre on iPhone X

  14. All – Offline Siri Voice Interpretation
  15. iOS – Ability to hide home bar on iPhone X
  16. iOS – More flexible home screen layout.
  17. iOS – Increase Face ID frequency for scanning your face
  18. iOS – Option to fade between songs like iTunes
  19. Xcode/Development – Re-add collapsable methods to Source Editor
  20. iOS – 3D Touch on Music Icon Changes
  21. iOS – 3D Touch on Messages Changes
  22. Xcode/Development – Rewrite Storyboard component of Xcode in Swift
  23. iOS – Battery Percentage always visible on iPhone X
  24. watchOS – New Watch Face that’s a mix of modular and Siri
  25. watchOS – Re-arrangeable toggles in Control Centre.
  26. Xcode/Development – Native stand-alone watchOS and tvOS apps
  27. iOS – Changeable icons on the lock screen on iPhone X
  28. iOS – Always On Display for OLED Devices

Apple 2018 Software Wishlist (11/28): All – Consistent Siri Experience across all devices & Continuity Support.

This one is very fitting, given the recent reports coming out after the HomePod release.

An issue I have with Siri these days is that you could ask one thing to Siri on your iPhone and it doesn’t work or do the same on Apple TV, Apple Watch, Mac or on the HomePod.

Top 10: Announcements I want to see from Apple in 2018

There is no doubt, that Apple has had a great 2017. They released the latest iPad Pro with the ProMotion 120Hz display, iPhone X and the iMac Pro along with software updates for all.

Apple has also had a few hiccups throughout the year including the announcement of the HomePod, supposedly released in December but delayed to probably as late as March 2018.

Lots of people also reported a lot of issues with iOS 11 not running well on older devices and recent controversy over Apple supposedly slowing down your older devices on purpose.

In this Top 10, I want to go over (in no particular order), what I personally want to see from Apple in 2018. This list may be different to yours since I am an app developer and is based on the devices I currently own, but I imagine a lot of people would have a few from my list.

Apple’s “Hello Again” Event – Expectations

Apple has today announced that they will be holding a keynote on Thursday October 27th at 10am PT in Cupertino where they have some major announcements to make.

This event is expected to be a Mac only event with major updates to multiple products in the Mac lineup.

Top 5: Favourite macOS Sierra Features

macOS Sierra is the new version of the Mac Operating System that runs on computers that have Mac in their name.

The previously named operating system being OS X has got a name change to macOS, which ties it in better with the rest of the Apple operating system lineup being iOS, watchOS and tvOS, and in this post I’m going to list my Top 5 favourite features from this new release.
