Kelly Pool: New Indie-Developed iOS App

Kelly Pool is “an alternative rotation pool table game that is suitable for all player groups big and small“, and this app will teach you how to play and keep track of gameplay.

What makes Kelly Pool unique is the different ways to play the game and allow more than 2 individuals/groups to play together.

To play Kelly Pool you need:

  • A pool table.
  • Full set of numbered pool table balls, including the white ball.
  • Pool cues.
  • 2 or more players.
  • The iOS app linked below.

Before playing the game you need to pick one of the following game modes:

Sink Ball(s) You Win:

Each player/team is allocated anywhere from 1 to 3 numbered balls each.

The aim is to get all of your balls into any of the 6 pockets around the outside of the table (does not all need to be in the same pocket).

Last Man Standing:

Each player/team is allocated anywhere from 1 to 3 numbered balls each.

The aim is to get all of the numbers balls that are not your own into any of the 6 pockets around the outside of the table (does not all need to be in the same pocket).

iOS App:

The iOS app created by yours truely, is available right now.

To step you through the application, from the home screen you select either ‘Sink Ball You Win’ or ‘Last Man Standing’ to start a game, or tap on Rules to check the rules or Settings to customize your game.

Home Screen:

When you select a game mode, you go through by selecting how many players there are and how many balls you want each. Please remember there is a limit of 3 balls each and there are only 15 balls to allocate, so multiples higher then that will not work (e.g. 6 x 3 = 18 which is more than 15).

Player Details/Player Names:

Afterwards you give each player a name that is unique and then you can choose to start the allocation process.

Allocated Balls:

To start the allocation process, pass the iPhone or iPad to the person who’s name that is on the screen, they tap on the yellow button confirming that it is them and they can see the balls they were allocated and tap ‘OK’ when done.

Repeat this process to pass to each player and after this, you will be presented with the GamePlay screen.

GamePlay:

The gameplay screen is where all the magic happens.

All of the player names will be listed at the top of the screen and you rotate through them in order from left to right.

When a ball has sunk in one of the pockets, tap on that numbered ball on the screen to reveal who’s ball it was and how many they have remaining.

The app will then tell you if someone has won the game depending on if you chose the ‘Sink Ball You Win’ or ‘Last Man Standing’.

And that’s Kelly Pool. A fun, new and alternative game to play that involves a pool table.

The instructional iOS app with Version 1.0.0 is available as of today for FREE on the App Store, and I encourage you to check it out.
